General Interests

Garden Volunteer

If you have a green thumb...or want to...we have a number of gardens that need regular maintenance as well as some special projects throughout the year. Whether you prefer tending raised garden beds, roses and rhododendrons, supporting horticultural therapy sessions with our resident's or ground maintenance, we've pretty much got it all!

'Cycling without Age' program

Wind in your hair, biking through town, seeing the sights...we are never too old to enjoy the pleasures a bicycle ride provides. Our electric Trio Bike Taxi supports 2 passengers and needs one pilot. Are you interested in piloting these special voyages? Would you prefer to be a passenger with one of our residents? We provide all the training you need to be a part of this incredible program that brings sheer joy and exhilaration for those with limited mobility or opportunity to adventure out into our community.

Special Events

Want to help plan or help host a special event or celebration? We need people who like to have fun and can support our Activity Team with various events like BBQs, and other celebrations.

Board of Directors and Special Sub-Commitees

The Board of Directors is responsible for oversight and sustainability of the organization, as well as recruitment and support for the CEO. We are seeking individuals from this community to proudly represent our resident population. Board time requirements are minimal. We endeavour to be efficient in all matters.  AHCS board members are elected on an annual basis for a three-year term, but can also be appointed throughout the year.

Sub-committees are established to support short term initiatives or to help create new projects and programs. This could be regarding special events, fundraising, or projects such as our garden re-vitalization.

Group Activities

Want to join in one the fun? We've got a calendar full of activities! Crafts, Teas, Bazaars, Luncheons, Happy Hour, Bingo, Baking, Sing-a-longs etc. Have fun and support our activity team all at the same time.

Outings and Excursions

Are you keen to hop on our bus and join our residents for an outing to the beach or other point of interest? We need people who like to have fun and can support our Activity Team with various outings.

Special Talent/Hobby Sharing

Do you have a talent to share such as playing an instrument? We do have a piano on site. Do you like reading aloud? Sharing through conversation? Or some unique hobby to highlight? We'd love to have you!

One-on-One Visits

We can never have too many people who care! Would you prefer simple one on one visits with our residents? Enjoy one on one games like chess, checkers, crib? We would love to have you share your time!
