Joining a City committee is a unique opportunity to contribute to your community! The City of Mississauga is currently seeking citizens interested in volunteer opportunities to serve on the following committee of Council:

The City of Mississauga's Audit Committee has two (2) vacancies available for citizen appointments.  The Audit Committee is a Standing Committee that oversees key City functions including accounting, reporting, ethics and regulations. The role of the committee is to ensure that City resources are being used efficiently and effectively.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

 

  • Canadian Citizen 
  • Mississauga Resident or business owner; and
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.

Desired Competencies

  • Financial expertise including accountants or auditors with an understanding of financial statements.
  • An understanding of risk and financial controls.
  • Information technology expertise or background including information management and information security.
  • Professionals who in the course of their duties are required to adhere to codes or standards of their profession.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a complex organization.
  • Be independent of the internal or external auditors of the City of Mississauga.

Individuals who are Ineligible to Apply:

  • Employees of the City of Mississauga or Region of Peel
  • Have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.

Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, March 20, 2026 until Friday, April 10, 2026.  We thank all who apply, however only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. All personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act. 

 

Interviews will be scheduled for mid- to late- April 2026 and the new citizen members are expected to attend the Audit Committee meeting on June 1, 2026, at 9:30am.
