CITIZEN APPOINTMENT TO THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN FINANCES COMMITTEE

Joining a City committee is a unique opportunity to contribute to your community! The City of Mississauga is currently seeking citizens interested in volunteer opportunities to serve on the following committee of Council:

The City of Mississauga's Election Campaign Finances Committee has five (5) vacancies available for citizen appointments.  The Election Campaign Finances Committee is a Quasi-Judicial Committee that is responsible for considering any application received for a compliance audit of a candidate's election campaign finances for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

 

  • Canadian Citizen 
  • Mississauga Resident or business owner; and
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.

Desired Competencies

  • Candidates are required to have knowledge of campaign finance rules
  • Auditing and accounting practices
  • An ability to make independent decisions; and
  • Ideally, membership will include a lawyer, auditor and/or accountant with a recognized accounting designation and individuals with prior experience on a committee or tribunal.

Individuals who are Ineligible to Apply:

  • Employees of the City of Mississauga or Region of Peel
  • Have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
  • Filed a nomination to register as a candidate in the 2026 Municipal Election; and
  • Registered as a third-party advertiser in the City of Mississauga 2026 Municipal Election.

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, April 20, 2026 until Friday, May 8, 2026.  We thank all who apply, however only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. All personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act. 

 

Interviews will be scheduled for mid- to late- May 2026.
