Sustainability & Green Team
Help us keep NOVUM as green and sustainable as possible. As part of the Sustainability & Green Team, you’ll support artists, event staff and audiences to make environmentally conscious choices throughout the festival, from encouraging recycling and reducing waste to promoting sustainable behaviours on site. You’ll play an important role in keeping us accountable, helping ensure sustainability is embedded across the event while engaging people in a positive and practical way. It’s a great role if you’re passionate about the environment and want to help make a real difference at a large-scale event.
Key skills and attributes needed:
- Friendly, approachable and confident engaging with the public
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods
- Passionate about sustainability and environmental responsibility
- Confident encouraging positive behaviours (e.g. recycling, reducing waste)
- Happy to work as part of a team and support staff, artists and audiences
- Observant and attentive, able to spot areas where support is needed
- Respectful, inclusive and able to communicate messages in a supportive, non-judgemental way
- Committed to helping create a greener, more sustainable event
- Comfortable speaking and understanding English
Good to know
- This role is open to individuals and pairs.
- You’ll be buddied up during your shift - you’ll never be on your own.
- You’ll be part of a busy, live event environment, which may be crowded at times.
- The role includes a mix of indoor and outdoor activity.
- We aim to make this role accessible and can adapt it to support different access needs.
- You’ll be invited to a volunteer induction session in the weeks leading up to NOVUM (dates TBC), where you’ll meet the team and receive everything you need to feel confident in your role.
Dates & times
- Volunteer shifts will take place from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August, with a mix of morning, afternoon and evening options.
- Your shifts will be allocated based on your availability and areas of interest
