Endoscopy
Endoscopy Unit Volunteers:
Volunteers serving in the Endoscopy Unit will support staff by providing the personal contact, direction and support that patients require when coming in for procedures.
Schedule / Shift Time
Monday - Friday (1 volunteer per shift)
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (2 hour shifts)
Some of the tasks in the role include:
- Greet patients arriving to Endoscopy.
- Direct patients from the waiting room to prep area.
- Verify patient information.
- Assist in making patients feel comfortable and relaxed usually post-procedure.
- Visit with patients while they wait for their procedure.
- Offer reading materials to patients.
- Sit with patients as requested in patient holding area.
- Accompany discharged patients (with their companion) needing a wheelchair to exit to ensure safe departure and return wheelchair to Endoscopy.
- Support unit tasks with restoking, cleaning and dressing beds.
- Report to staff before you leave at the end of your shift.
