Why should I become a Volunteer Interpreter for JFS?
Are you fluent in Arabic? Afar? Amharic? Dari? Farsi? French? Spanish? Swahili? Somali? Russian? Tigrinya? Pashto? Or another language? Want to use that skill to impact our client’s lives? This volunteer position is for you!
As a Volunteer Interpreter:
Under the direction of JFS staff, volunteer interpreters will be asked to facilitate accurate and culturally sensitive communication between non-English speaking clients and JFS staff, volunteers, or community agencies.
Examples of what you can interpret for: Cultural Orientation classes, bank account setup, phone calls between caseworkers and clients, reception help, and more!

- Attend an Interpreter Training
Any consistent availability may be helpful, especially during business hours!
If we are currently in need of interpretation during your indicated availability, we may be able to give you an individual orientation and interpreter training.
