Refugee Career Pathway
What is RCP?
RCP is an employment program for Refugees, Asylees, Cuban/Haitian Entrants, Afghan Parolees, Victims of Human Trafficking, and Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders within the last 5 years. The program connects participants with a career counselor to create a career plan and goals that they can achieve through employment. Program participants are enrolled in English language courses, digital literacy trainings, and wellness workshops. Additionally, RCP assists participants in obtaining other certifications or degrees that would prepare them for careers in healthcare, transportation, interpretation, manufacturing, or skilled trades.
What would your role be as a volunteer?
Volunteers helping with the program would serve as mentors for our participants. Each volunteer would be paired with 1-3 participants and serve as their mentor throughout their time with RCP. Volunteers would help guide participants through their training courses and check in with them about their progress towards employment. Volunteers will also be ESL conversation partners with their mentees. We will provide mentorship training and a guide for your check-ins if you choose to volunteer with RCP.
What do we need from you?
Volunteers would need to be able to commit for 6 months. Once we have a clearer picture of how many volunteers are interested, we will be able to let you know how many hours we would need from you each week. Volunteers will report their hours on Better Impact.
