Cultural Mentorship/Exchange
By providing a warm welcome and practical help, cultural mentors see that refugees become self-sufficient and independent as quickly as possible.
Our Cultural Mentoring Program involves meeting practical needs of newly arrived refugee families or individuals. It is a commitment to "welcome the stranger" by providing assistance with the sometimes overwhelming process of cultural adjustment.
This can be done one-to-one or with a team.
Basic Elements of Cultural Mentoring:
- 4 month commitment
- 2 hour training session
- in teams of 2-3 or as an individual
- building relationships
- meeting needs
- English focused
- orientation to Albuquerque
- flexibility and concern for others
