Volunteer with us

Group of Gallery volunteers

Welcome to the National Portrait Gallery - a gallery of people, for people.

We tell the story of Britain through portraits, using art to both bring history to life and explore living today.

Our volunteering programme is open to everyone and we particularly welcome people with no previous experience or qualifications that are interested in trying something new.

As a volunteer, you can do all sorts of things: from engaging with our visitors, to developing new skills in a variety of roles behind-the-scenes.

If you are over 16, based in the UK and curious about what goes on behind-the-scenes in an art gallery we would love to hear from you. We offer remote and face-to-face opportunities in a range of departments and you do not need any particular experience or qualifications to apply.

Please keep an eye on this page for future updates or visit https://www.npg.org.uk/about/jobs/volunteer-with-us to sign up for our volunteer opportunities newsletter to hear from us next time we recruit.
