Mission Statement
The mission of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network is to provide the best achievable capture and care for oil-affected wildlife during spills anywhere in California. We focus on four core areas to achieve this goal:
- Readiness: Actively train and drill our personnel and facilities to continually improve wildlife plans for rapid deployment during oil spill disasters;
- Response: Provide immediate access to permanent wildlife rehabilitation facilities, trained personnel, and key supplies to give the best care possible to oil-affected wildlife;
- Research: Explore improvements to methods for collection of, and caring for, wildlife through active research to ensure the use of cutting-edge techniques; and
- Reaching Out: Share knowledge and resources with the public and other wildlife professionals to allow for the global dissemination of the best information possible on the effects of oil on wildlife and their environment.
