Royal Rider - Patient and Visitor Internal Buggy Service
The ‘Royal Rider’ is an indoor, seven day a week, transport service, funded by the Hospital Charity and run entirely by volunteer drivers, which transports patients/visitors to different parts of the Hospital Main area. The service regularly helps up to 400 passengers a week to get around the very large area ground floor area of the hospital.
It currently operates:
- in the daytime between 8.00 and 4.00pm.
- evenings between 5.30 and 8.30pm
- and at the weekends between 2.00 and 6.00pm.
Training will be given by shadowing an existing experienced buggy driver, followed by a short assessment. You will need to be over 18 and have a current valid driving licence.
This role would suit anyone who likes to be busy, enjoys interacting with lots of different people and is a good listener or just wishing to give something back to the NHS and local community.
