Peer Support Volunteerism

Peer Support Volunteer

This volunteer role is intended for individuals who have personally experienced a pregnancy or infant loss.

Peer Support Volunteers provide compassionate, non-judgmental emotional support to bereaved parents and families by drawing on their own lived experience. After completing PAIL Network's peer support training, volunteers may choose to support families in one or more of the following ways:

  • Phone Support – Provide one-to-one peer support through up to four scheduled phone conversations with a parent who has experienced a similar type of loss.
  • Online Loss-Specific Support Groups – Co-facilitate a monthly virtual support group with another trained volunteer using PAIL Network's secure Zoom platform.
  • In-Person Mixed Loss Support Groups – Co-facilitate a monthly in-person support group for individuals and families who have experienced any type of pregnancy or infant loss.

As a Peer Support Volunteer, you will:

  • Provide compassionate, empathetic support while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Help create safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces for participants.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow volunteers and PAIL Network staff.
  • Receive ongoing training, guidance, and support.

Whether providing support by phone, online, or in person, Peer Support Volunteers help ensure that no family has to navigate pregnancy or infant loss alone.
