Facilities - Maintenance Volunteer
Purpose
The Maintenance volunteer role will assist with the implementation of an annual maintenance project plan to maintain our facility and grounds and help prevent future issues. The grounds are used to support local wildlife, programs and house the Administration and Hospital buildings. Maintenance Volunteers allow WRA to continue to operate at all times, saving dollars in services that can then go directly to care.
Responsibilities
- Raking leaves and clearing them from enclosures
- Clearing plants and debris from drains
- Maintaining gravel pathways
- Cutting back brush
- Removing invasive plants
- Cleaning, repairing and sharpening tools
- Performing minor repairs
- Working with the Maintenance Team on construction projects such as building sheds, gazebos, shelving units, steps, fences etc

The following qualifications are important for this role:
- Experience and knowledge in maintenance
- Ability to problem solve and resolve minor maintenance projects
- Demonstrated reliability
- Someone who enjoys routine maintenance tasks
- Ability to complete tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Good team communication skills
- "Handy" and able to safely and effectively complete minor repairs
- Knowledge of how to safely operate power tools
- Access to vehicle an asset
- At least 18 years of age
- Demonstrated fluency in speaking, reading and writing English
- Certification in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, or fiberglass repair an asset
Time Requirements:
- Regular 4-hour weekly shift and minimum commitment of 100-hour
