Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery (Bailiffgate) is an award-winning people’s museum, where fascinating stories of the past are told about Alnwick and District. Established in 2002 by some incredibly passionate members of the local community, we are still a volunteer-run organisation with volunteers supporting all aspects of our work from managing the museum collection to welcoming visitors to staging exhibitions and everything ‘behind the scenes’.
Bailiffgate is so much more than just a museum: it is a hub for local people, a resource for local schools and an essential part of life in Alnwick. Together, our volunteers have created an incredible and lively museum which engages local people, rural communities and visitors/tourists.
We are an inclusive organisation where everybody is welcome as a volunteer or visitor regardless of their age, gender, sexuality, disability, ethnicity, religious beliefs or social background.
