After School - After School Program Tutor
Activity Summary:
We are looking for mentors to tutor elementary school kids in our After School Program. We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable working with up to 15 children. Responsibilities include helping students with homework and school work - usually math, reading, and writing. Volunteer tutors will supervise students, handle signing in and out each student, and will serve snacks. 3 volunteers are needed per shift.
The after school program will run during the school year (August - May) Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm - 4:00pm.
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older
- Prior experience tutoring or teaching preferred, but not required
- Must have a passion for helping others
- Must be able to work well with others
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Bring and wear personal face mask
- Clear brief health screening at start of each shift
Policies:
Volunteers will go through an initial screening process and will need to pass a background check. Once the volunteer has passed, they will need to complete our Safe from Harm online training within 60 days of starting.
Alcohol, drugs and smoking are not permitted at any Salvation Army Facilities or volunteer site.
Clothing must be respectful as you will be representing The Salvation Army.
