Community Living Australia

Volunteers are invaluable to our organisation and we always welcome new applications.

We rely heavily on the support of our volunteers. Not only do our employees appreciate your time, our clients and their families are grateful for your assistance, friendship and mentoring. We choose people to volunteer with us who will inspire, encourage and care for our clients.

For those looking to give back to the community, working in disability support services is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Volunteering is a great way to influence personal growth and development of many people living with a disability in the local community.

Volunteers can participate in a number of ways, such as;

  • Being a friend and companion
  • Providing additional support in programs, including respite, recreation and leisure activities
  • Providing practical assistance to individuals to help with shopping, gardening or home maintenance
  • Assisting with administrative, reception, marketing or IT duties
  • Assisting with fundraising activities

Student Volunteering

We recently had three Unity College students from Murray Bridge volunteer at The Cottage (Murray Bridge) as part of their Year 10 studies.  The students attended over a 5 week period and assisted our clients in Day Options programs.  It was a positive experience for all involved with the students learning “how to make conversation with people with disability” and “seeing a different side of my local community”.

Overall the students enjoyed “meeting new people” and “seeing the clients happy faces”.

Benjamin Gallasch (teacher) thanked us very much for accommodating the students and looks forward to working with us into the future.

We thank Unity College and the students for partnering with us and look forward to further volunteering ventures with local schools and businesses.
