Dog Walker Level 1
The objective of our Dog Walking level 1 volunteers is to improve the lives of SPCA Tampa Bay canines by providing exercise and socialization.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Knowledge of standard SPCA policies and procedures
- Ability to handle high energy medium and large sized dogs
- Ability to work in the outside elements and high noise level areas
- Ability to recognize canine body language
- Ability to communicate and work well with the public, staff and other volunteers
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Pay a nonrefundable amount of $20 for volunteer gear
Responsibilities:
- Socialize, exercise, and play with specific canines
- Record necessary information on dog walking boards
- Record and report unusual observations to Behavior and Training Manager
- Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times
Training:
- Complete telephone meet and greet with Volunteer Program Manager
- Complete remote, online training with Behavior and Training Manager
- Complete onsite mentor session with a SPCA TB mentor
Physical Demands:
- Walk and stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
Time Commitment:
- At least 6 hours per month
- Shifts are flexible between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday - Sunday
