Clinic Volunteer - St. Petersburg location

The objective of our Clinic Volunteers is to provide high quality assistance to the staff and clients at SPCA Tampa Bay Veterinary Center (SPVC) located in St. Petersburg, FL.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • General knowledge and experience with animals preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and act independently, with oversight from staff
  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm in high stress or emergency situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal stress
  • Ability to communicate and work well with the public, staff and other volunteers
  • Pay a nonrefundable amount of $10 for volunteer gear

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside medical assistants
  • General cleaning tasks
  • Assist with laundry
  • Scrubbing and cleaning surgical instruments
  • Observing medical procedures
  • Maintain a clean environment
  • Positively represent SPVC’s mission and beliefs at all times
  • Ability to answer questions or refer to the appropriate resource concerning both SPCA Tampa Bay shelter and SPVC if interacting with clients

Training:

  • Complete telephone meet and greet with Volunteer Program Manager
  • Complete onsite meet and greet with Client Care Supervisor
  • Complete onsite shadow session(s) with Client Care Supervisor

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time

Time Commitment:

  • 1 consistent shift per week
  • Monday-Saturday 8:00 am-12:00 pm OR 12:00-4:00 pm
