Street Team and Events Volunteer

The objective of our Street Team volunteers is to help raise awareness about SPCA Tampa Bay at events throughout the community, with and without adoptable pets.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be personable, enjoying talk to people, and have an upbeat personality
  • Ability to volunteer on weekends           
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to handle a variety of animals with confidence
  • Ability to work in the outside elements and high noise level areas
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate and work well with the public, staff and other volunteers
  • Pay a nonrefundable amount of $10 for volunteer gear                        

Responsibilities:

  • With staff, another Street Team volunteer or group of volunteers as needed, setup, run, and break down tabling events.
  • Interact with the public and talk about SPCA Tampa Bay
  • Supervise public interaction with adoptable pets, watching animal body language for signs of stress or fatigue
  • Create and strengthen community partnerships
  • Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times

Training:

  • Complete telephone meet and greet with Volunteer Program Manager
  • Complete shadowing session with Marketing & Communications Associate

Physical Demands:

  • Carry, kneel, bend, push and pull
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds

Time Commitment:

  • Street Team volunteers will be given a schedule of upcoming events and may choose which events work with their schedule
