Eckerd College - Wildlife Rehabilitation Intern (Summer) - Apply by Apr. 15
Major Objective: Work cooperatively with staff and other volunteers to assist in the daily care of animals in rehabilitation, including feeding, cleaning, and administering medications under supervision. Gain valuable experience in wildlife rehabilitation while making a direct impact on the care and recovery of injured and orphaned animals.
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old
Comfortable with working with a variety of wildlife species
Knowledge of standard SPCA policies and procedures
Ability to communicate and work well with the public, staff and volunteers
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation
Pay a nonrefundable amount of $10 for volunteer gear
Responsibilities: Feed and water animals as needed
Clean animal cages as needed
Record and report observations of patients to any Wildlife staff member
Assist with basic animal procedures, including wound care, bandaging, and administering fluids and medications
Drive SPCA Tampa Bay vehicles
Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times
Training: Complete telephone meet and greet with Volunteer Program Manager
Complete onsite orientation with Wildlife Assistant Manager
Complete onsite training sessions
Physical
Demands: Carry, kneel, bend, push and pull
Walk and stand for prolonged periods
Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
Time Commitment: Minimum per week: 16 Hours
Sunday-Saturday: Scheduled 8:00am-12:00pm, 12:00-4:00pm, or 2:00-6:00pm
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
