Programmatic - Video Game Volunteer

Foster creativity in children and enhance the image of the library as a fun and welcoming place by leading the Seven Trees Library’s Weekly Video Game Program. Fingerprint clearance required for volunteers 18 or over.

Brief Summary of Activity

  • Help lead and supervise a drop-in gaming program for youth at the library.
  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun while participants play Nintendo Switch games.
  • Support a safe and welcoming space where kids can relax, make friends, and enjoy positive screen time.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Provide kids with a safe, inclusive environment to socialize and play.
  • Teach important soft skills like teamwork, patience, and fair play.
  • Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and cooperation through gaming.
  • Strengthen positive relationships between youth and the library.

Typical Day/ Task

  • Set up Nintendo Switch consoles, controllers, and games before sessions.
  • Greet participants and review basic ground rules for respectful play.
  • Organize casual tournaments, multiplayer matches, or themed game days.
  • Assist with sign-ins, cleanup, and equipment care after each session.
  • Support library staff in keeping the atmosphere fun and friendly.
