The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay

By volunteering at the Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay...

YOU are making a difference in children's lives!

How we’re responding to COVID-19 (coronavirus):

We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation that is impacting on the way our staff, volunteers and service users - work, give, and receive support from one another.

After carefully considering the World Health Organization, Public Health Agency of Canada, Ontario Public Health, The Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, we’ve taken a sensible and practical approach to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and service users.

As a result we’ve made a number of changes to key volunteering roles. These changes are now with immediate effect. The Children's Aid Society will continue to virtually recruit, onboard and screen volunteers for the positions we are presently providing virtually or contactless as well as a number of returning roles in person such as driver, tutor, recreation buddy, special friend, parent releif and parent aide. We are presently most in need of Drivers, Tutors and Recreation Buddies as well as assistance with our Post Secondary Mentor and Texting Project for youth. In some cases the roles can be virtual.

We will asses on a regular basis and as the situation changes however the needs of the children and families we serve continues. During these time of uncertainty, feel free to contact me at the Volunteer Program.  I am available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have during our business hours, Mon-Fri, 9:00am - 5:00pm!

Mobile: (807) 632-4661 (text or call), Office line: (807) 343-6192, or by email.

In the mean time, stay safe and well.
