TRAIL CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 

 

Peter Lougheed Provincial Park

This project will work on several trails in Peter Lougheed over multiple dates. Types of work will vary depending on the trail section and could include:

  • Small to medium-sized tread repairs to fix drainage issues and overall tread condition
  • Brushing & limbing work to improve sightlines and reduce hazards  
Dates:
May 12th: High Rockies Trail from Chester to Kent Creek. HIKE and/or EBIKE. Trail Sweep and Deadfall removal.
May 14th: High Rockies Trail from Driftwood Parking. Three Sisters Dam to Buller. HIKE and/or EBIKE. Trail Sweep and Deadfall removal.
June 5th: High Rockies Trail Day. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
June 27th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
July 17th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
August 8th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
August 28th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
August 29th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
September 19th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
October 17th: High Rockies Trail. Details to come. Trail sweep and deadfall removal
 

Meeting time:9:00am -3:00pm

 

Meeting location: will be confirmed in trail day reminder sent the day prior. 

 

What to expect: The level of effort will range from light to moderate and mainly include using hoes, rakes and Pulaskis to dig/till or otherwise remove ruts in seasonal wet/muddy sections, boot-packing and raking smooth finished tread on damaged tread sections, brushing and limbing hazard trees/bushes, and rock work to move and adjust rocks on various sections of trail.

 

Volunteer Agreement Form: You will need to fill out this volunteer agreement waiver prior to working on a trail care event. Please visit the link above to fill out this form ASAP prior to the trail day.

  • If you are an existing volunteer, click here to login to your profile; once you're signed in, click the Opportunities tab, click on the Activity you'd like to sign up for and then scroll down to the bottom of this page and look for the SIGN UP button for the date(s) you'd like to volunteer for.
  • If you're new to volunteering with FKC, you'll first need to fill out a volunteer application.
  • Sign up closes 48 hours prior to the event. Confirmed sign-ups will receive a reminder email with additional information on what to bring and meeting time/place.
