Friends of Kananaskis Country

TRAIL CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Kananaskis Public Land Use Zone - Trail Assessment, Maintenance & Brushing Projects

This project will include a variety of work on various trails in the PLUZ. Types of work will vary depending on the trail section and could include::

  • undertaking early-season trail assessments and Spring 'sweeps'
  • clearing downed trees and deadfall, brushing work to clear trail corridor and improve sightlines
  • general trail maintenance (minor trail tread and drainage work) using hand tools like hoes, shovels, rakes and pulaskis to improve the trail condition

Most projects will be 9:00am-3:00pm; meeting time & location will be confirmed in trail day reminder sent the day prior.

NOTE: some projects may require access by E-mountain bike and are noted below in the dates section. For these 'Bike' project dates, volunteers must be competent in riding an E-mountain bike while carrying a pack on off-road terrain including dirt roads and trails. FKC has a limited number of bikes available for volunteer use; if you have your own e-mountain bike that you wish to use, please contact our program coordinator alicia@kananaskis.org. Please note: Where HIKE or EBIKE is written you have the option to do either.
