TRAIL CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

CANMORE NORDIC CENTRE – GENERAL TRAIL MAINTENANCE

Help build your local trail community! We will have a number of general maintenance trail care events ongoing throughout the trail care season on several of the most popular and well-loved CNC trails like EKG and Odyssey. Specific details about each trail care date, what to bring, meeting location, etc. will be confirmed in a reminder email to all volunteers who have signed up.

What to expect:The level of effort will range from medium to difficult and may include hand tool work such as digging, rock removal, removing duff and earth with picks and pulaskis, and shoveling/raking out rutting, removing deadfall, and clearing brush to improve sightlines along the trail corridor.

PLEASE NOTEAccess to the project may be via bike. We will confirm in the reminder email that will be sent the day prior to the event. Be prepared to ride ~2-4km on gravel/dirt road, including some uphill sections.

PROJECT DATES:

May 21st - CNC Fireguard Trail Day - Fireguard trail sweep: We will be assisting AB Parks and the forestry crew with raking debris and repairing trails in the fireguard above the Canmore Nordic Center in Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park. Our meeting spot is the overflow parking for Grassi Lakes on Hwy 742. If we complete all the tasks (unlikely!) we will do some spring maintenance on nearby trails at the CNC. We will hike in, or feel free to bring a mountain bike to access the trails.
