Mission Statement

The Friends of Kananaskis Country is a non-profit society that has been incorporated since 1996. Our main focuses are:

  • Trail Care
  • Environmental Education

We strive to offer volunteering opportunities in all of our projects to enhance community involvement with our organization and to foster a powerful, broad-based public connection with Kananaskis Country.

Mission: Building a community of volunteers and partners to maintain the ecological integrity and recreational use of Kananaskis Country by engaging in trail care, stewardship, education, and research.

Vision: A Kananaskis Country of exquisite natural and cultural landscapes enjoyed by present and future generations.

Mandate: Connecting people and place in a meaningful way. We develop opportunities and programs for individuals and groups to experience Kananaskis Country through engagement and sharing. We raise money to support relevant, practical initiatives that not only benefit the people involved, but benefit the ecology and ecosystems of Kananaskis Country. The Friends of Kananaskis Country brings people together to ensure future generations have the same opportunities to enjoy this special part of Alberta.
