Tax Aide Volunteer
Are you a retired accountant or financial services professional? Do you have experience preparing your own tax returns and a high level of comfort using computers? Are you the person your family members and friends come to you when they need help doing their taxes? The Senior Center's AARP Tax-Aide Program needs your help!
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free personal income tax assistance and preparation to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
Counselors must pass the Advanced level of the IRS test to be certified by the IRS for the purpose of providing tax assistance in this program and agree to, by signing, the IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct form. Counselors volunteer 2-4 days a week during the tax season, usually from February 1 to April 15, plus 3-5 days of training in January.
