
Welcome to the Exeter Heritage Champions! We’re a flexible volunteering programme based in the city of Exeter across multiple cultural and heritage sites. Try your hand at volunteering at a variety of venues, in a flexible system designed to fit your lifestyle and meet your needs.
We offer a wide range of volunteering experiences including:

Conservation and cleaning of artefacts,

Silver and brass polishing,

Supporting historical events and re-enactments,

Public engagement and family events,

Stewarding at festivals and cultural and educational events,

Front-of-house and customer facing roles,

Guided tours.
Choose your shifts to fit around your commitments; whether you’re working and studying full time, parenting, caring or simply juggling a full social life, we have opportunities to suit every schedule!
We believe volunteering should be a mutual exchange, allowing you to not only gain new experiences but also expand your skillset. We offer access to a variety of training and transferable skills including public engagement, conservation, inclusion and diversity, safeguarding and first aid.
Exeter Heritage Champions gives you the opportunity to explore ‘behind-the-scenes’ at historical venues such as the Devon and Exeter Institution, Tuckers Hall, the Custom House and more.
Take part in your community and make friends with a diverse group of volunteers from across the city, who work together in supportive and social atmosphere.

Exeter Heritage Champions is a project initiated by Exeter Heritage Partnership to develop a collaborative volunteering programme across a number of the city’s heritage organisations: Exeter Historic Buildings Trust: St Nicholas Priory, Exeter Cathedral, Exeter Canal and Quay Trust: Custom House, Devon and Exeter Institution (DEI) , Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM), South West Heritage Trust, Tucker’s Hall and the Historic Guildhall.
This project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and hosted within the University of Exeter's Faculty of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), Creative Industries and Economy team (Exeter Innovation).
