Volunteer Programs!

Patient Companionship

Patient Companionship Volunteers provide meaningful connection and support to patients during a vulnerable time in their lives. Whether reading, playing games, or simply spending time together, volunteers help bring comfort, joy, and companionship. There is immense value in simply showing up and being present, offering patients a sense of connection and care. This program is perfect for anyone seeking to make a personal impact while fostering growth, empathy, and compassion through direct patient care.

We Honor Veterans

We Honor Veterans Volunteers help empower and support veteran patients and their families during their time with us. Volunteers may participate in pinning ceremonies that recognize and honor these heroes, provide veteran-to-veteran companionship, and offer meaningful connection and support. We believe it’s never too late to show gratitude and honor the men and women who have served our country.

Pet Peace of Mind

Pet Peace of Mind Volunteers help ensure that patients’ beloved pets are cared for during and after their time with us. Volunteers assist with everyday tasks such as dog walking, vet and grooming visits, picking up supplies, and more. They may also support staff with rehoming efforts when needed. This program is perfect for individuals with a love for animals and a compassionate heart, helping bring comfort and peace of mind to both patients and their furry companions.

The Butterfly Wing

Butterfly Wing Volunteers assist nursing staff, greet visitors, and provide compassionate support to patients and their families on our 8-bed inpatient unit, The Butterfly Wing, at The Baton Rouge General Mid-City. Their presence helps create a welcoming, caring environment where comfort and reassurance are always available.

Music Program

Music Program Volunteers share their musical talents with hospice patients and residents of assisted living and nursing facilities, bringing comfort, joy, and healing through song and performance. Research shows that even a single music session can reduce anxiety, agitation, and pain, while helping patients slow and deepen their breath. We welcome anyone with a love for music and a passion for healing to join us and help bring harmony and peace to the lives of those we serve.

Camp Conquer

Camp Conquer Volunteers support our free children’s grief camp by working alongside staff to provide age-appropriate activities and guidance that help children recognize and express their emotions. Volunteers must be approved by our bereavement team and complete additional training to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all campers.

Administrative/Office

Administrative Volunteers provide valuable support in our office by assisting with a variety of clerical tasks, including mailouts and other organizational needs. Their help ensures our team can focus on delivering compassionate care and services to those we serve.

Special Events

Special Events volunteers support our mission through community outreach, fundraising, and meaningful gatherings. Volunteers assist with events in the community and at our Grief Support Center, The Retreat at Quarters Lake, helping with setup, guest support, and behind-the-scenes needs while making a positive impact.

Hairstylist

Hairstylist Volunteers provide haircuts to hospice patients, offering comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy for those unable to visit a salon. Volunteers must hold a current cosmetology license and share their skills with compassion and care, helping patients feel valued and supported.

Acts of Service

Acts of Service is a hands-on volunteer program for those who enjoy helping in practical ways. Volunteers assist patients and families with household chores, light repairs, moving furniture, packing belongings, yardwork, and other everyday tasks. These small acts make a meaningful difference by providing comfort, relief, and peace of mind when extra help is needed.
