Short Back & Sidewalks (SBSW) provides haircuts free of charge and free of judgement to people experiencing homelessness and financial hardship. Every service creates moments of dignity, connection, and belonging.
As a Service Coordinator, you're the welcoming face of each service. You help create a calm, organised environment where every person feels seen and every volunteer is supported.
In this role, you'll:
- Welcome community members and manage the haircut list
- Let clients know when it's their turn with kindness and friendly conversation
- Support volunteers throughout the service
- Record service numbers and basic reporting
- Assist with simple set up and pack down
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Friendly, organised, and community-minded
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable and available for around 2 hours per month
- Able to attend a monthly online Operations Team meeting
No previous experience is required. We'll provide the training—you bring compassion, reliability, and a willingness to make a difference.
What You'll Receive
You'll receive a full induction, be paired with an experienced volunteer buddy for your first service, and have ongoing support from our Operations Coordinators.
