Career Skills Building - Virtual Resume Review (2024)

The Opportunity

There’s more to being a professional engineer or geoscientist than simply completing a degree, which is itself a major accomplishment. New professionals must learn to navigate not only the post-university world, but also the unique challenges beginning a new career in a complex industry. If you’re an experienced Professional or a new Member in Training, don’t you wish you could have had someone to help guide you as you embarked on the next stage of your career?

APEGA’s Virtual Resume Review Program gives an opportunity for professional members with hiring experience to give back to the professions by providing students valuable feedback to help ensure that their resumes’ highlight their strengths and give them the best chance of landing that first career-making position.

The Impact

Virtual Resume Review volunteers create a positive impact in the community by virtually reviewing students resumes through an online, anonymous platform. Each resume will be reviewed by several volunteers with relevant experience to provide a range of feedback. This important work helps up and coming professionals succeed in their chosen professions, jumpstart their careers, and navigate the complexities of the engineering and geosciences industries in Alberta.
