Pastoral Care Volunteering

Pastoral Care volunteers have a more religious/spiritual focus and volunteer in the following areas :

  • Clergy - Clergy volunteers are recognised service leaders in their faith community and lead services, communion, etc. for our residents.
  • Activities - Volunteers (usually in groups) undertake religious/pastoral activities like assisting with church services, leading hymn singing sessions, etc.
  • One-on-One - Volunteers are matched to visit nursing home residents for visits with a pastoral/spiritual focus.  In some cases volunteers from particular backgrounds/faiths may be matched to an individual resident.

Pastoral Care volunteers complete an interview with the Pastoral Care Coordinator.  They also undergo Pastoral Care Volunteer Training, as well as SCC's Volunteer Induction Training.

Vacancies are not always available in Pastoral Care but interested people can be added to a backup list and will then be contacted when a vacancy occurs.

If you are interested in this area please do not complete an online application, but contact Ian Simms, Head of Pastoral Care, on 0419 095 041 or isimms@scrosswa.org.au
