Concessions Help

Concessions Assistant is fast paced and fun - no cash handling needed! They assist the concessions lead during the performances by serving beverages and snacks before the show and during intermission. Concessions assistants are able to watch the show during their shift AND get a free ticket coupon. They arrive 45 minutes before the show starts and stay past intermission (shifts are usually 2-3 hours).

As we sell alcohol during our performances, we require all concessions volunteers to be over 21 and have an OLCC permit, which we will help you obtain (please email mt_volunteeer@corvallisoregon.gov for more information.)

Interested in this assignment? You can sign up for open shifts on Better Impact or contact Megan van Breemen, Theatre Volunteer Coordinator, at mt_volunteer@corvallisoregon.gov or 541.766.6981.  If you are not already an active Majestic Theater volunteer, please fill out an application form to join our program.

No experience required, all training provided at the start of your shift. Ushers arrive 45 minutes before the show starts and stay the duration of the show (shifts last about 2-3 hours).

Street Team & Outreach

We are looking for volunteers to help promote the Majestic Theatre! Our Street Team puts up posters around town every other week. Street Team volunteers pick up a poster packet along a designated route. Poster pickup day is Thursday afternoon (1 - 4 pm). You can deliver the posters over the week and return the poster packet the following week.

Occasionally we need outreach volunteers to help with tabling events, like the Fall Festival and outdoor summer events. If you are outgoing and love promoting the Majestic, you would be perfect for this role!

Makeup/Hair

Makeup and hair assistants help actors put on makeup or do their hair for a production. No experience required - only an interest in makeup and/or hair! All training will be provided by our Theater Technician. These positions are available for an entire run of a production (dress rehearsals thru performances) and a person must be available for 2-3 weeks on the weekend to assist.

Costuming

Costume volunteer positions include Costume Designer and Costume Assistants. The Costume Designer works with the director to create the physical manifestation of the characters. They must be able to sew, understand how to work on a budget, and collaborate with a team. We have lots of resources, both at the Majestic and in our community to pull great costumes. All designers work with the Director from either the proposal phase or just after and have their designs planned months before the show.

Costume Assistants assist with sewing, stitching, and fitting the costumes for the production. They may also help with quick changes during the show.

Backstage

There are plenty of opportunities to help out backstage! Stage crew help backstage with scene changes and sometimes operator the theater's fly systems. Stage Managers lead the tech and stage crew by preparing and communicating all the cues for the show. Assistant Stage Managers support the SM by enacting all the cues backstage while communicating via headset. Both SM and ASM require theater knowledge and backstage experience. You can shadow these roles if you are interested! Stage Crew is also a great introduction to the backstage.

Scenic

This is great for people interested in getting crafty! The Scene Shop is where we build and store all our sets and props. We always need set builders, painters, and designers to help build or paint scenery, or design scenery for a production from scratch! The Scene Shop is located off-site, so volunteers must arrange their own transportation.

Props

This is perfect for a crafty person looking to get into theater. Props positions include Props Manager or Props Assistant. Props are anything that an actor holds in their hand, and set dressing that may be placed around scenery. The Props Manager is responsible for pulling from stock or buying/making different items as needed for a production, and the Props Assistant helps them!

Musician

Our main stage musicals are accompanied by a full pit orchestra and we often need more musicians. The Music Director for each show recruits instrumentalists to play in the pit who are highly experienced and available for performances and Saturday morning rehearsals.

Please let us know what instrument you play and your music experience by contacting Megan van Breemen, Theatre Volunteer Coordinator, at mt_volunteer@corvallisoregon.gov or 541.766.6981. We will pass your information to our Music Directors who will contact you when performance opportunities are available!

Performer

We select our actors through an open audition process and are always looking for new folks. We do not require any previous stage experience and have a variety of opportunities from large main stage musicals to our smaller Reader’s Theatre productions upstairs in the Lab Theatre. Often actors can pick up audition packets or check out scripts prior to auditions in our Business Office (open Tues-Fri, 12-5pm).

Commitment: Mainstage Shows: Evening rehearsals 4 to 5 times per week for 2-3 hours over a period of 2-4 months. Reader’s Theatre Shows: Six to eight two hour rehearsals over the course of one month, no memorization required as shows are done with scripts in hand.

Interested in this assignment? Check out our upcoming auditions on The Majestic's website! You can just show up to auditions and fill out an application when you arrive.
