Current Volunteer Opportunities

Community Gardens

The Conservancy operates three community gardens throughout the City: Magnolia Community Garden in West Ashley, Medway Community Garden on James Island, and Corrine Jones Community Garden on the downtown peninsula.

Volunteers can participate with multiple programs at our community gardens. This includes:

  • Gather & Garden Workdays with Conservancy Staff (year round)
  • Harvest Helpers at Medway (April - November)
  • Flower Share Bouquet Makers (seasonal)
  • Pollinator Caretakers (year round, seasonal training)
  • Bee Hive Inspection (inquire with staff to learn more)

Garden in the Parks (ornamental gardening)

Volunteers can work alongside our staff horticulturists in our ornamental parks and gardens throughout the City.

All tools and directions are provided on site. Prior horticulture experience is not necessary, and this is a great space to learn about ornamental gardening in the Lowcountry!

Tasks can include seasonal planting, weeding, pruning, watering, mulching and more in various cultivated beds within Conservancy parks.

Light the Lake

Join us for our largest holiday celebration of the year - volunteers join us on the first Friday of December at Colonial Lake to create a memorable experience for all to enjoy.

This year, we'll offer the regularly scheduled event from 5-7pm, and then will have a holiday movie at Moultrie Park from 7-9pm.
