Media

Media Crew members work as a team to promote all aspects of the Jazz Festival through photography and content creation. Media volunteers contribute in a variety of ways, photographing the festival, capturing social media content, and assisting in creating posts. Often working in energetic spaces during performances, volunteers photograph artists, know how to work discretely, and can capture content to generate buzz about the festival.
Duties

Photograph the festival as assigned and/or generate social media posts/content, capturing artists, venues, the festival environment and energy.

Provide your own phone and/or camera equipment.

Ensure sponsor activities and branding are photographed during the festival (for archival purposes and final reporting).

Deliver photos, content, and social post drafts to the Jazz Winnipeg Marketing and Communications Coordinator by deadline and in an organized fashion.
Skills & Knowledge

Photography experience, especially live performances photography

Experience producing social media content for promotional use is an asset.

Ability to work with a team, take direction, and carry out assigned tasks.

Comfortable capturing photos/content in a crowd, often from a small space, with discretion to ensure performances are not interrupted.
Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older at the start of the festival.

Must be willing to stand and walk for extended periods during your shift.

Must be prepared to work outside in all types of June weather.

Ability to work some late night shifts.

Abide by the Volunteer Code of Ethics and all policies referenced in the Jazz Winnipeg Volunteer Handbook.
Time Commitment
-
Attend one orientation meeting prior to the start of the festival (~1.5 hours).

Volunteer at least 10-12 hours (in 4-5 hour shifts) during the festival.
Crew Leadership
-
Crews report to Jazz Winnipeg staff (Marketing and Communications Coordinator) and Photography Coordinator.
