Weed Pull Events - Weekdays 2026 - Tawa Park Weed Pull Event

Tawa Park Weed Pull Details

City of Edmonton staff will be leading volunteers in removing white cockle, oxeye daisy, bird’s-foot trefoil and more in the naturalized beds around Tawa Park. Also known as Sister Mary Ann Casey Park, is a neighbourhood park next to the Grey Nuns Community Hospital.

Weed Pull Location

  • Parking: There is a small parking lot on site,  which is paved and has a ramped curb in the middle to access the sidewalks through the park. There is no paved access to the weed pull site. It is across a well-maintained short turf field.
  • Transit: There is a transit stop at 58 St and Youville Drive - a 3 minute walk to the weed pull site.
  • Biking: This site is not on a bike route, and there is a bike rack on site, but it is located in the parking lot which is a distance from the weed pull site. If cycling, bikes can be left at the event tent, which will always be in sight of the weed pull.

Weed Pull Site:

The park is well-maintained and mowed turf, but the weed pull areas are densely vegetated and on a mild slope. There are no shaded areas, but an event canopy will be set up for breaks and shade. There is thistle growing in the beds as well, so it is recommended that volunteers wear long pants.

Washrooms:

There is a port-a-potty on site, in the parking lot.
