Cash Register Operator

Role Summary:

Work alongside other check-out team members and process the payment for customers using a cash register & EFTPOS machine

Specific Tasks:

1. Greet the customer
2. The customer will have a docket indicating the total amount to pay, which has been provided by the Pricer. Double check the amount with the customer and ask how they would like to pay
3. Some items may require scanning
4. Process payment using a cash register and/or EFTPOS machine
5. Always provide customer with a receipt (some customers may require a written receipt).
6. Thank the customer

Desired Requirements:

It is preferable that volunteers in this role have had some level of customer service experience and love to meet people. During busy shifts (weekends), the ability to process a large number of transactions is required.

Breaks:

Breaks are provided for the morning and afternoon shifts and a light lunch for volunteers rostered for the  whole day.  Refrigerators are available for storage of lunch and snacks.

Note:

Previous experience of using a cash register and EFTPOS are not required for this role although would be beneficial. On-job training will be provided.

Summer months can be very hot, wear cool, comfortable clothing and shoes.

Bring water bottle, water for refill is available in Volunteer sign-in area

It is a requirement for all volunteers and staff working at this event to wear enclosed shoes.
