Role Location:

Halls 3 & 4

Role Summary:

To work alongside other check-out team members to process customer’s items

Specific Tasks:

  1. The Pricing Attendant is the first point of contact at the check-out for customers; greet them and apologise to if they have had a long wait in the queue
  2. Pass any new product to Cash Register Operator for scanning. Total the price of the customer’s book purchases. Price found inside front cover.
  3. Clearly write the total amount of the book sale on a docket and give to the customer
  4. Instruct the customer to take the docket to the Register Operator who will process their payment.
  5. Thank the customer.  Customer will pack own purchases.  If not busy, you can help.

 

Desired Requirements:

It is preferable that volunteers in this role have had some level of customer service experience and love to meet people. During busy shifts (weekends), the ability to efficiently serve a large volume of customers is required. Basic arithmetic is required for this role.  If you would like a calculator please ask.

Breaks:

Breaks are provided for the morning and afternoon shifts and a light lunch is provided for volunteers rostered for the whole day.

Refrigerators will be available for storage of your own provisions.

 

Note:

It is a requirement for all volunteers and staff working at this event to wear enclosed shoes.

 

If helping customer with packing purchases, do not lift too many books at a time, remember to keep back straight and bend knees.

On-job training will be provided.

In summer months it can be very hot, wear cool, comfortable clothing and shoes.  Bring water bottle, water to refill is available in Volunteer sign-in area.
