Afternoon Tidy Crew

Role Location:

Halls 3 & 4

Role Summary:

Tidy Crew volunteers work across all sections, tidying and sorting books and other items back into the correct categories.

Specific Tasks:

1. To walk around each section tidying books, stationery, magazines and records into order.
2. Transfer any books left on the floor back into the correct category, paying particular attention to the back of the halls by the cafeteria.
3. Any books/items in the wrong category are to be returned to the correct section (for instance a cookery book found in paperback fiction is to be returned to the cookery section).

Desired Requirements:

It is preferable that volunteers in this role love books and have a basic understanding of different book categories.

An excellent level of fitness is required as Tidy Crew volunteers are on their feet, walking on the hard concrete floor. Lifting and stretching are a requirement for this role. A basic understanding of manual handling procedures (the correct way to lift heavy/large items) would be of benefit although manual handling training will be provided.

Breaks:

A light afternoon tea is provided.  Tea, coffee and water is available at all times shifts.

Note:

A high-visibility vest and gloves are provided for this role. Remember to wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes as you will be walking on a hard concrete floor.

It is a requirement for all volunteers and staff working at this event to wear enclosed shoes.
