Visitor Services - Tourism Student Volunteer Program
We are seeking Tourism students to join City of Melbourne's award-winning Visitor Services team and gain practical, real-world tourism experience while building the skills, knowledge and confidence employers are looking for.
The ideal volunteer is:
- A domestic or international student who is studying or has completed studies in Tourism or a closely related field at Certificate, Diploma or Degree level in 2026
- Keen to develop their practical experience in Tourism
- Delivers a high level of customer experience
- Is able to work well within a diverse team
- Happy to volunteer in an outdoor environment
- Able to commit to a regular weekly shift of 3-4 hours for the 6 month program (weekday and weekend shifts avaible)
- The ability to speak languages other than English is highly regarded.

- Exposure to Melbourne's tourism, events and cultural attractions.

- Networking opportunities within an award-winning Visitor Services team.
- A Certificate of Program Completion, signed by the Lord Mayor, recognising your contribution and achievement.
Key dates:
- Recruitment opens in early October, closing mid-October
- Interviews and selection takes place in mid-to-late October
- Training commences in early December
- Program concludes in May 2027 - with the option of remaining on-board as an ongoing volunteer

Become a Wildlife Garden Guide and help us inspire Melbournians to create space for nature in the City
Do you want to see more nature in the city?
Are you passionate about our local plants and animals?
Gardens for Wildlife (G4W) is an exciting program supporting the community to provide an area of habitat in the garden to promote and support local wildlife.
Volunteers visit the gardens of new members and provide examples and ideas that inspire gardeners to value local biodiversity and conserve indigenous flora and fauna.
Applications for new garden guides open twice yearly in May and November. To receive news and events information from Gardens for Wildlife and be notified about expressions of interest for new garden guides, please email nature@melbourne.vic.gov.au

- International Student Visitor Services Volunteer Program (dedicated stream for international students)

Are you interested in volunteering for Events?
Our volunteers take on a variety of role in both front of house customer service and back of house event support.
We typically recruit twice a year for event volunteers. See dates below.
We will not be taking on volunteers outside of these recruitment dates:
