We will give you a full induction to all aspects of your role and you will have ongoing support from the team. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills to build your CV and gain invaluable experience working for a leading charity.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer #TheCrew Schools Speaker
Are you confident in public speaking in schools and able to engage young people?
We have created an exciting new club for children and young people called #TheCrew which encourages members to become ambassadors of the charity, learn new skills and have access to special events.
We are looking for confident speakers preferably with experience of working with children and young people, to attend schools and/or groups to raise awareness of this amazing club and encourage children and young people to get involved.
In this role you may get involved in:
- Visiting schools to talk to children about #TheCrew, present at school assemblies and engage them to sign up
- Being an ambassador for The Children’s Air Ambulance to raise awareness in your local area
- Making connections locally with schools and groups to arrange talks
This role is completely flexible however we anticipate that you will be required mostly in the mornings (to coincide with school assemblies) and early evenings. We are ideally looking for volunteers who are able to commit to regular engagement with us.
Previous experience of presenting would be great but as long as you are confident speaking in front of a group then don’t worry, you’ll be provided with all the training and tools you need.
#TheCrew Office Volunteer
We are looking for office volunteers to join our #TheCrew team
Based in our Rugby Head Office - Blue Skies House, Butlers Leap, Rugby CV21 3RQ
#TheCrew is an exciting club for children and young people, where members can learn new skills, have access to special events and support the vital work of the Children’s Air Ambulance. We are looking for a volunteer to help us grow our reach and recruit new members.
You could get involved in:
- Helping to register new #TheCrew members on our database
- Helping to send membership packs out
- Updating our database and other general administration tasks.
What you will need:
- Enthusiasm and passion for our work
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confidence and skills in working on a computer- particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- The ability to commit to at least half a day once a week or more.
Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm so we can accommodate any hours you are able to volunteer within these times. However, mornings would be preferable.

*Community Fundraising- Yorkshire, North East, North West & Scotland
Community Fundraising Team Information
We are looking for volunteers to join our Community Fundraising Team to support in all areas including bucket collections, Supporting Events, Fundraising, Schools and General public speaking, tin co-ordinator/collector and being our Mascot.
Our Region Covers: Yorkshire, North East, North West and Scotland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a great team, meet new people and gain new skills.
Volunteering is very flexible, you can either commit to set hours each week/month or join us on a more flexible basis. Any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions.
In return we will give you all the training you need to be successful in the role, support from management, and the opportunity to gain experience working for a national charity.

The Children’s Air Ambulance are looking to create a fundraising group and are seeking volunteers to join.
Our fundraising groups form a vital network of volunteers across the country, being part of a group is a way to meet new people, make great friends and get involved in your local community, all whilst helping to keep our helicopters flying.
We also rely on our fundraising groups to help organise fundraising events and activities within their local community, our groups act as ambassadors, helping to spread the word about the work of the Children’s Air Ambulance and encouraging and supporting local people, clubs and organisations to fundraise for us too.
Groups normally meet once a month and support in whatever way best suits their interests and skills to organise and support fundraising activities in their local community.
They do this by:
- Planning and organising fundraising events to take place across the year
- Meeting regularly as a group to reflect on events held and discuss future activities
- Developing relationships and representing the Children’s Air Ambulance in their local communities, including attending events

Volunteer Tin Collection Co-ordinator
Do you enjoy being part of your local community, are you looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity, do you want to meet new people and make a difference?
We need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service by placing collection tins and coordinating the collection of these in your local area.
In this role you may be involved in:
- Placing and servicing collection tins
- Approaching local companies, groups and supporters to have a tin
- Working with local business to coordinate the collection of tins when full
- Communicating with our fundraising team to manage the distribution of tins
This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role, we ask that you commit to a minimum of 2 hours per month.
Volunteer Speaker
Are you confident in public speaking and looking for a new challenge?
We need your help to raise awareness and spread the word about the work of The Children’s Air Ambulance whist representing the charity in your local area.
In this role you could be involved in:
- Promoting the work of The Children’s Air Ambulance by giving talks and presentations to a range of audiences including local community groups and schools
- Approaching companies, groups and supporters in your local area to make connections to set up speaking engagements
- Attending local events and cheque presentations on behalf of the charity to officially thank our supporters
Previous experience of presenting would be great but as long as you are confident speaking in front of a group then don’t worry, you’ll be provided with all the training and tools you need.
This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role, we ask that you commit to a minimum of 4 talks per year.
Volunteer Mascot (Not Scotland)
At the Children’s Air Ambulance, we run a special fundraising club for Children and young people called #thecrew
Do you want a flexible volunteering role? Then this could be just for you!
Blade is our mascot and was designed by one of our #TheCrew members.
Blade’s diary is filling up fast so we are now looking for a number of volunteers who would be able to wear the costume at events when promoting the Children’s Air Ambulance across the country!
You don’t need any previous experience but just to be enthusiastic and enjoy attending events. The costume is quite heavy so you would need to be reasonably strong and able to stand for a length of time. The costume will fit up to an adult size 14/16. When attending events, you would never be alone, we would ensure you are accompanied by other staff or volunteers, and you would have regular breaks from the costume
Volunteer Event Supporter
Are looking for a flexible volunteering role, are you able to commit to volunteering for at least 10 hours per year, do you want to meet new people and make a difference?
We are expanding rapidly, and we need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service and the Children’s Air Ambulance by supporting our large events and events local to you while representing the Charity.
As an event support volunteer some of the things you would be involved in are:
- Setting up and clearing down the event
- Welcoming and talking to members of the public
- Assisting with the smooth running of our events
- Cheering on our supporters
- Helping with promotion of events
Our events vary massively from local fetes and quiz nights to marathons and outdoor cinemas. Hopefully there will be something to interest everyone!
We will communicate all planned events to you regularly so that you can plan ahead and let us know which events you are able to support.
This role is very flexible, you can sign up to support our events on an ad hoc basis when it is most convenient for you. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role, we ask that you commit to a minimum of two events per year.
Volunteer Fundraiser
Do you enjoy being part of your local community, are you looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity, do you want to meet new people and make a difference?
We have big plans to grow our charity and we need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service and the Children’s Air Ambulance by supporting the fundraising team in your local community.
As a volunteer fundraiser you could help us by supporting the fundraising team and participating in local events representing the Charity.
In this role you could be involved in:
- Organising events to raise money and awareness in your area
- Running fundraising stalls at local events to represent the charity
- Participating in collections
- Collecting and delivering collateral and merchandise to supporters
This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role, we ask that you commit to a minimum of 6 hours per month.
Volunteer Bucket Collector
Do you enjoy being part of your local community, are you looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity, do you want to meet new people and make difference?
We need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service by taking part in our planned bucket collections and shakes and also help us to book in more regular collections local to you.
In this role you could be involved in:
- Supporting the fundraising team by joining us at our planned bucket collections at large events such as firework nights
- Approaching local business such as supermarkets to arrange and coordinate bucket collections
- Counting the money raised at out bucket collections
This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role, we ask that you commit to a minimum of two collections per year.
Sheffield Superstore
Store Information
We opened our brand new Superstore in Sheffield on Thursday 2nd March 2023 and we are looking for volunteers to join our team to support in all areas including generating stock, merchandising, processing donations, raising awareness locally, assisting on the shop floor, driver's mate or supporting behind the scenes with social media and online sales.
The location of the shop is: Kilner Retail Park, Kilner Way, Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield, S6 1NN. The opening times for the store are: Monday to Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday 10.30am - 4.30pm
This is a great opportunity to become part of a brand new team, meet new people and gain retail skills. Volunteering in our shops is very flexible, you can either commit to set hours each week or join us on a more flexible basis. Any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions.
In return we’ll give you all the training you need to be successful in the role, support from store management, a staff discount of 25% and the opportunity to gain experience working for a national charity.

Volunteer Shop Floor Assistant
Are you good at giving great Customer Service and enjoy meeting new people?
Are you looking to gain retail experience whilst helping your local Community?
As a shop floor assistant, you would be the front face of the charity interacting with the public, so we are always looking for new friendly faces to join us!
Some of the things you could get involved in are:
- Supporting us by serving customers at the tills
- Helping customers who need assistance on the shop floor
- Visual Merchandising- keeping our shop windows and displays looking as attractive as possible to encourage more customers, using your creativity to display our stock and using our brand whilst keeping within our guidelines.
- Social Media Assistant- Keeping our Social Media platforms updated, sharing photos and stories, creating new ideas to grow our presence.
Volunteer Stock Processor
Do you have an eye for detail and ability to work well as part of a team?
Then you are just the person we are looking for!
As a volunteer stock processing assistant some of the things you could get involved in are:
- Sorting through the many donations coming through our door to pick out the best items for sale
- Hanging and steaming clothes so that they look as attractive as possible to customers
- Assist van drivers with deliveries/collection and movement of stock on the shop floor
- PAT testing our electrical items (training needed)
- Sourcing suitable items for our eBay site.
- Pricing items ready to go on to the shop floor
- Fixing, Painting, Restoring Furniture.
If you are happy to get involved with the team and help us to process our donations then you are exactly the person, we need to join us!
Warehouse Assistant/ Drivers Mate
As a Volunteer Warehouse Assistant / Drivers mate you could get involved in:
- Helping the team to remove sold furniture from the shop floor and replace with new stock
- Assist drivers with furniture deliveries
- Help with organisation and movement of incoming stock
- Checking incoming stock
- Please note this role will include heavy lifting
Volunteer Social Media Assistant
Do you keep up with the latest trends and know how to engage people online?
You could be the ideal person to help us raise brand awareness and make the best use of our shop social media accounts
As a Social Media Assistant you could help us by:
- Keeping our shop Facebook pages active and interesting by coming up with new content
- Sharing stories and photos on social media within our brand guidelines
- Coming up with ideas to help us grow our social media presence on different platforms to raise awareness of the charity and the fantastic work we do
- Working with our Online Trading team to sell key items through Facebook Marketplace and taking photos of these items for sale
Volunteer Furniture Refurbisher
Are you able to see the potential in donated items? Do you have a creative eye for upcycling furniture or the practical skills to fix things?
You could help us in many different ways including:
- Fixing donated items of furniture so that they are ready to sell
- Painting donated items to refresh them and increase the income we can generate from them
- Restoring wooden furniture for example by sanding, varnishing or painting so it can be sold in our shop
