Volunteer #TheCrew Mascot

At the Children’s Air Ambulance we run a special fundraising club for children and young people called #TheCrew. It is an exciting time for #TheCrew as we have recently reached a massive 1000 members and introduced a brand new mascot, Blade who was designed by one of our #TheCrew members.

Blade’s diary is filling up fast so we are now looking for a number of volunteers who would be able to wear the costume at events when promoting the Children’s Air Ambulance across the country!

You don’t need any previous experience but just to be enthusiastic and enjoy attending events. The costume is quite heavy so you would need to be reasonably strong and able to stand for a length of time. The costume will fit up to an adult size 14/16. When attending events you would never be alone, we would ensure you are accompanied by other staff or volunteers and you would have regular breaks from the costume.

This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. In return we'll give you all the information you need to be successful in the role, provide training, support from a key contact staff member and the opportunity to gain experience working with a national charity.

Volunteer #TheCrew Event Supporter

Are you able to commit to volunteering for at least 10 hours per year? Are you looking for the chance to meet new people and make a difference on a flexible basis?

As an event support volunteer some of the things you would be involved in are:

  • Setting up and clearing down the event
  • Helping Blade
  • Welcoming and talking to members of the public
  • Assisting with the smooth running of our events
  • Helping with promotion of events

Our events vary massively from local fetes to marathons and outdoor cinemas. Hopefully there will be something to interest everyone! We will communicate all planned events to you regularly so that you can plan ahead and let us know which events you are able to support.

 

This role is very flexible and you can sign up to support our events on an ad hoc basis when it is most convenient for you. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role we ask that you commit to a minimum of two events per year.

Volunteer #TheCrew Schools Speaker

Are you confident in public speaking in schools and able to engage young people?

We have created an exciting new club for children and young people called #TheCrew which encourages members to become ambassadors of the charity, learn new skills and have access to special events.

We are looking for confident speakers preferably with experience of working with children and young people, to attend schools and/or groups to raise awareness of this amazing club and encourage children and young people to get involved.

Typically the role could include:

  • Visiting schools to talk to children about #TheCrew, present at school assemblies and engage them to sign up
  • Being an ambassador for The Children’s Air Ambulance to raise awareness in your local area
  • Making connections locally with schools and groups to arrange talks

This role is completely flexible however we anticipate that you will be required mostly in the mornings (to coincide with school assemblies) and early evenings.  We are ideally looking for volunteers who are able to commit to regular engagement with us.

Previous experience of presenting would be great but as long as you are confident speaking in front of a group then don’t worry, you’ll be provided with all the training and tools you need.

We will give you a full induction to all aspects of the role and you will have ongoing support from the team.  You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills to build your CV and gain invaluable experience working for a leading charity.

Volunteer #TheCrew Virtual Speaker

Are you confident in delivering presentations virtually with some spare time to help?

During the pandemic we adapted our fundraising methods and are now making use of new online ways of connecting. We need your help to raise awareness and spread the word about the work of Your Local Air Ambulance and The Children’s Air Ambulance.

Typically the role could include:

  • Promoting the work of The Children’s Air Ambulance by joining virtual school assemblies
  • Approaching companies, groups and supporters in your local area to make connections to set up online speaking engagements
  • Joining local virtual networking events on behalf of the charity
  • You could also now attend in person talks if you would like to

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Previous experience of presenting would be great but as long as you are confident speaking via online platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom then don’t worry, you’ll be provided with all the training and tools you need.

This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role we ask that you commit to a minimum of 4 talks per year. As this role is home based you could be based anywhere as long as you have an internet connection!

#TheCrew Office Volunteer

We are looking for office volunteers to join our #TheCrew team based in our Rugby Head Office - Blue Skies House, Butlers Leap, Rugby CV21 3RQ.

#TheCrew is an exciting club for children and young people, where members can learn new skills, have access to special events and support the vital work of the Children’s Air Ambulance.  We are looking for a volunteer to help us grow our reach and recruit new members.

 

 

You could get involved in:

  • Helping to register new #TheCrew members on our database
  • Helping to send membership packs out
  • Updating our database and other general administration tasks.

    What you will need:

  • Enthusiasm and passion for our work
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence and skills in working on a computer- particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to commit to at least half a day once a week or more.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm so we can accommodate any hours you are able to volunteer within these times. However mornings would be preferable.

We will give you a full induction to all aspects of the role and you will have ongoing support from the team and a dedicated ‘go to’ team member.  You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills to build your CV and gain invaluable experience working for a leading charity.

We need your help to raise awareness and increase income for The Air Ambulance Service by placing collection tins and coordinating the collection of these in your local area.

 

 

Typically the role could include:

  • Placing and servicing collection tins
  • Approaching local companies, groups and supporters to have a tin
  • Working with local business to coordinate the collection of tins when full
  • Communicating with our fundraising team to manage the distribution of tins

 

This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role we ask that you commit to a minimum of 2 hours per month.

  • Approaching companies, groups and supporters in your local area to make connections to set up speaking engagements
  • Attending local events and cheque presentations on behalf of the charity to officially thank our supporters

Typically this role could include:

  • Supporting the fundraising team by joining us at our planned bucket collections at large events such as firework nights
  • Approaching local business such as supermarkets to arrange and coordinate bucket collections
  • Counting the money raised at out bucket collections

 

This role is very flexible, any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. As the charity will invest time in processing your application and providing you with training to carry out your role we ask that you commit to a minimum of two collections per year.

Volunteer Event Photographer

Are you a passionate photographer looking for a new volunteering challenge and way to use this creative skill?

 

We need your help to capture photos of our fundraising activities taking place across the charity so that we can raise awareness and show the fantastic work we are doing.

 

 

Typically this role could include:

  • Coming along to our large events to take photos of our supporters and volunteers in action
  • Working with our fundraising and communications teams to generate fresh content for our social media feeds
  • If you’re really creative you could also help by capturing videos at our public events, your imagination is the only limit!

As a shop floor assistant some of the things you could get involved in are:

  • Supporting us by serving customers at the tills

Volunteer Electrical Donation Tester

This Electrical Donation tester role could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As an Electrical Donation Tester you would be getting involved in:

  • Trialling our electrical items donated to make sure all the functions work
  • Learning how to use the PAT testing machine to make sure the items are safe to use
  • Ensuring that once electrical items have been tested they are ready to be sold on the shop floor

Helping us to be able to sell our electrical donations really does make a huge difference to shop sales

We are looking for new volunteers to support our Online Trading team from our Doncaster Superstore. If you have an eye for detail and are looking for the chance to get involved in a unique area of our charity then this could be the opportunity for you.

You would be getting involved in:

  • Sorting through donated stock and picking out items to sell online
  • Assisting the Online Trading team by sending stock to our Head Offices
  • Helping the Online Team to list items for sale on Ebay and Amazon
  • In some cases using the shop Facebook pages to sell products

Are you looking for a new way to use your local knowledge and connections for a good cause?

As a Volunteer Stock Generator you would be able to help us by:

  • Engaging with individuals and businesses to help generate more stock for the shop for example by organising bag collections
  • Identifying stock we are in most need of and finding creative ways to source this
  • Talking to customers about donating stock in the future
  • Promoting donation of stock in the local area.

Volunteer Department Specialist

Do you have a keen interest in retail and a particular department that you would like to specialise in?

As a Volunteer Department Specialist you could play an important role in the running of the shop by:

  • Taking responsibility for a set department within the shop for example books, media, children’s, jewellery or clothing. If you have a specific interest then this is a great way to utilise it as a volunteer.
  • Engaging with customers by talking to them about the stock in your area
  • Using your creativity and eye for detail to ensure the department looks as appealing as possible to customers.

Are you highly organised and great at talking to people?

Our shops are always looking to recruit more volunteers as the charity is growing and it would be a massive help for a local volunteer to support us with finding new volunteers in the area and keep track of their training once they start.

You could get involved in:

  • Promoting volunteer opportunities in the area for example by putting up posters or handing out leaflets
  • Talking to local social groups about how they could get involved in volunteering with us
  • Helping the shop manager to record training completed by volunteers using the electronic system.

Are you able to see the potential in donated items? Do you have a creative eye for upcycling furniture or the practical skills to fix things?

You could help us in many different ways including:

  • Fixing donated items of furniture so that they are ready to sell
  • Painting donated items to refresh them and increase the income we can generate from them
  • Restoring wooden furniture for example by sanding, varnishing or painting so it can be sold in our shop

Our Doncaster Landing Pad café needs your help! We are located at Unit 1a, Thorne Road Retail Park, Ogden Road, Doncaster, DN2 5DX.

As a Café Assistant you can get involved in:

  • Being a friendly face serving our customers at the till and talking to them about the fantastic work our charity does
  • Preparing food orders for customers
  • Learning to use the coffee machine to make hot drinks
  • Cleaning and clearing tables to make sure they are ready for customers

Volunteering in our cafes is very flexible, you can either commit to set hours each week or join us on a more flexible basis. Any time you can give helps us to fund our lifesaving missions. The café is open Monday to Friday 9am-4:30pm, Saturdays 9am-6pm and Sundays 9:30am-4pm.
