Volunteer: Kortright Community Events

How you will contribute as part of the TRCA Volunteer team:

As a Kortright Volunteer, you will be assisting Kortright staff with the delivery of community events that celebrate the natural environment through seasonal festivals and events that encourage and empower people to get outside and enjoy nature. Kortright runs numerous events throughout the year including the Maple Syrup Festival, Magical Christmas Forest, interpretive hikes and workshops, and many more.  

What you will do as a volunteer:

  • Assist with the set-up and take-down of event equipment
  • Greet participants, collect registration information, and answer questions regarding the event or program
  • Engage event participants in interactive activities at events (training will be provided)
  • Adhere to all TRCA safety policies and procedures

What will you need to succeed: 

  • Passion for and interest in environmental topics including local wildlife, native plants and environmental conservation
  • Experience with community events or an interest in working with the public
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor setting
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with TRCA and its programs is an asset
  • Must be at least 14 years old

Volunteer- York Region Nature Collaborative

Volunteer Role Details:

How you will contribute as part of the YRNC Volunteer team:

As a YRNC volunteer you will be assisting staff with the delivery of nature-based programming for families, children and educators, helping to build strong connections with nature from an early age. Events include a Family Adventure Walk in the Forest, a multi-day conference for educators, other professional development and more.

What you will do as a volunteer: 

  • Assist with the set-up and take-down of event equipment
  • Great participants, collect registration information, and answer questions regarding the event or program
  • Engage event participants in interactive activities at events
  • Adhere to all TRCA safety policies and procedures

 

What will you need to succeed: 

  • Passion for and interest in engaging children in the outdoors and nature-based play
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor setting
  • Experience working with children is an asset
  • Familiarity with YRNC and its programs is an asset
  • Must be at least 14 years old
