Citizen Appointments to Committees



The City of Mississauga is currently seeking one (1) citizen member to sit on the Committee of Adjustment (COA) for a term of office until November 14, 2026 or until a successor is appointed.


The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that hears applications for minor variances and land severances. The Committee is a local board of the City established under the Planning Act.


Applicant Qualifications

Those applying must:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen
  • Be a Mississauga Resident or Business Owner;
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age;
  • NOT be employed by the City of Mississauga or Region of Peel; and
  • NOT have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.

In addition to the general applicant qualifications members should bring the following skills and expertise to the committee:

•    Have knowledge in one or more areas of: law, planning, architecture, government, community development and land development
•    Knowledge of the Planning Act is an asset
•    A strong interest in the complexities and challenges of city building
•    An understanding of the diverse neighbourhoods and communities across the
City of Mississauga

Applications will be accepted beginning Tuesday, July 9, 2024 until Tuesday, July 23, 2024.  We thank all who apply, however only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. All personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act.
