Red Cross - SA Transport Driver

The power of humanity. Australian Red Cross logo

Hi friends, we hope you're keeping well at this difficult time.

As you'd imagine, the Red Cross is undertaking really important work and experiencing significant change at this time, with some services on hold and new well-being-focused services ramping up. Many of their older volunteers are unable to volunteer at the moment due to their higher risk and pre-existing health conditions.

Adelaide University students, who are over the age of 25 with a driver's license, could play a major role in keeping key community services running at present.

The Red Cross is looking for volunteer drivers for our transport service for the elderly and those with disabilities.

If you can help, please sign up here!

All Red Cross vehicles and offices are subject to enhanced, regular cleaning. All drivers are expected to follow strict sanitation protocols. No clients with virus symptoms, who have travelled overseas in the last 14 days, or have been in contact with those who have been to Government identified high risk countries in the last 14 days are transported.

For more information please visit the position description here: http://volunteering.redcross.org.au/cw/en/job/496169/sa-transport-driver-volunteer-adelaide or contact Huw Hunt by email: hthunt@redcross.org.au

To help spread some much needed cheer during this challenging time we are facilitating an opportunity for volunteers to connect via the postal service with groups of the community who are particularly isolated. First up, we will be working with Southern Cross Care at a number of their aged care residential homes to put some smiles on some dials!

Volunteers who sign up for this opportunity will have a 'Cards for Community' pack posted to their home containing 5x blank cards and a return addressed and stamped envelope. It is then up to you to get creative to decorate your cards and write some messages of support and cheer.

This opportunity will be listed as an on-going weekly shift that runs for 2 hours, however you can bedazzle your cards when ever suits you! For each pack of cards completed, volunteers will receive 2 hours of volunteer time- this will be approved once cards have been received.
