ESC - Gin Gin

The Emergency Services Cadets Gin Gin Unit commenced operations on October 12, 2020 with 26 Cadets and 12 Adult Leaders.

We are proud to have at least one Adult Leader from each Emergency Service in the Gin Gin.

The Gin Gin SES is our Host Facility with Tirroan Rural Fire Brigade as Lead Emergency Service.

We meet each Monday afternoon at the SES facility from 4pm to 6pm, with the Cadets getting a taste of all facets of Emergency Services and gaining skills and knowledge along the way.

In December 2020, the Cadets catered a local public event run by the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre and assisted with the running of the evening. They received excellent feedback from the public and Neighbourhood Staff.

Our aim is to build and promote community resilience through youth development by exploring potential career pathways, ongoing volunteering and leadership development.

Through your involvement you will learn a range of emergency service-related skills, that may include; First aid, casualty management, search and rescue, swift water theory, road safety, forensics, highway patrol, navigation, radio communications and much more.  We also have a strong focus on team building and problem solving that will serve you well in whatever your eventual career path may be.

Support a Unit

Support Queensland's future Emergency Services Personnel as a leader with the Emergency Services Cadets program.

Emergency Services Cadets offers young people aged 12 to 17 the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the emergency services sector, and the roles and responsibilities undertaken by various emergency services personnel.

Through your involvement you will support the operations of the unit, helping to facilitate sessions that support cadet learning across a range of emergency service-related skills.  You do not need to be former Emergency Services personnel to take on a leader role within a unit - just a willingness to support young people's learning and development.

Please note all PCYC Volunteers are required to obtain a Blue Card prior to starting.
