PCYC Bundaberg

 

PCYC Bundaberg offers a range of different sports and activities for the wider community.  

We have a 24/7 Gym + Fitness space that caters to everyone. Membership options available.

Our Gymnastics program is for boys and girls ages 4+, and we have a Little n Active program to cater to the 0-5 year olds that need to burn off some energy and have fun doing it!

We offer both Junior and Senior Karate Classes  which are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5pm and 6pm.

We have a range of court sports, including Pickleball, Netball, Basketball, Futsal, Volleyball and much more!

Our over 50’s club (Friendship Club) meets every Tuesday and Saturday morning from 9am-12pm.  This is a social event for all to come along and play indoor bowls, cards, boardgames etc.

Our Blazers Outdoor Adventure group meet every Friday from 6pm.  The Blazers Group is a youth group with a focus on families, outdoor fun and education. All older youth members are part of the Bundaberg PCYC’s Youth Development Team and work towards completing all levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

We have a range of other Youth Programs for kids aged 12-18 years old that are facilitated by our QPS Programs Manager. Enquire within for details on these!

Volunteer Opportunities

Club Operations

Support the smooth running of our clubs through administration, facilities management or event support.  We're looking for volunteers to support the smooth operations of our club and provide an outstanding service to the community.

Roles Available include:

  • Administration Assistants
  • Facilities and Grounds Maintenance
  • Volunteer Co-ordination
  • Event Assistants
  • Marketing and Social Media Support

Key Tasks may include:

  • Administration tasks
  • Social Media engagement
  • Supporting event logistics at various club events
  • Maintaining outdoor or indoor spaces
  • Cleaning

Driver Mentor – Braking the Cycle

Braking the Cycle supports learner drivers without access to a supervisor or registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours.

The program provides young people with increased employment opportunities, community connection and driver education. Volunteer driver mentors are matched with participants and provide encouragement while helping young people improve their self-esteem and develop positive road safety attitudes.

Key Tasks include:

  • Providing guidance and support during driving sessions i.e. safe driving practices and operational use of vehicles, road rules. 
  • Completing pre-session preparation i.e. checking participant files to ensure familiarity with progress 
  • Ensuring that learner drivers are supported to undertake theoretical components of the program

Volunteers for this role are required to:

  • Hold a QLD open drivers’ licence for more than 12 months 
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of QLD road rules 
  • Have a clear driving record
  • Be able to obtain a Blue Card 
  • Have capacity to support learner drivers and an ability to remain calm under pressure

 

Sports

Support the delivery of sports activities at PCYC Clubs, providing a welcoming environment for community youth members in their chosen activity.  Through creating a safe and positive environment you will be playing a vital role in increasing participant engagement and supporting the young person's development.   

Sports may vary depending on season and availability but could include; Boxing, Martial Arts, Basketball, Pickleball, Netball and more.  Speak to our Club Manager to find out more what's currently on offer.

Roles available include:

  • Coach
  • Assistant Coach
  • Activity Assistant

 

Key tasks may include:

  • Providing direction, coaching and guidance in your sport or activity
  • Equipment Setup/Pack down
  • Maintaining safety and compliance within your activity
  • Support and correspondence with administration and staff.

Please note all volunteers are required obtain a Blue Card before volunteering with PCYC Queensland.  Some roles may also require First Aid and Coaching Qualifications.

Youth and Community Programs

PCYC operates a range of programs designed to empower young people while providing them with a safe space to engage with peers and our friendly teams.  We offer a range of sports, recreation and cultural activities that support the development of young people and meet the needs of our communities.

Volunteer opportunities are available across a range of programs including:

  • After Dark
  • Drop-In
  • Youth Leadership Team
  • and much more!

 

Volunteer roles available include: 

  • After Dark and Drop-in Support 
  • Food Preparation
  • Activity Assistants
  • Youth Mentors

 

Key tasks within these might include:

  • Helping to facilitate engagement activities which may include:
    • Physical activities (sport based dependent on club focus)
    • Artistic activities
    • Table top games
  • Supporting administration and participant sign in procedures
  • Providing support to young people on an individual or small group basis
  • Food preparation and serving
