Our CLSC’s offer a community-based approach to volunteering. What that means is professionals work closely with people living in their community to provide services that are needed, Services are often provided in the home or at our local CLSC office.

Nos CLSC offrent une approche communautaire du bénévolat. Ce que cela signifie, c'est que les professionnels travaillent en étroite collaboration avec les personnes vivant dans leur communauté pour fournir les services qui sont nécessaires, les services sont souvent fournis à la maison ou à notre bureau local du CLSC.

Current needs: Famcare Survey volunteers (click below for more information)

Volunteer services are provided to palliative care clients receiving services at home and/or their families.

Surveys and Outreach Calls 

Volunteers with special skills and educational backgrounds are selected to support families and individuals in palliative services. Such programs can be survey-based seeking information on satisfaction of services or can be supportive calls to people grieving after the loss of a family member. Training and supervision is provided by the palliative care team at the CLSC René-Cassin.

Sondages et appels de sensibilisation 

Des bénévoles ayant des compétences et des antécédents scolaires spéciaux sont sélectionnés pour soutenir les familles et les personnes dans les services palliatifs. Ces programmes peuvent être fondés sur des sondages pour obtenir de l'information sur la satisfaction à l'égard des services ou peuvent être des appels de soutien aux personnes en deuil après la perte d'un membre de la famille. La formation et la supervision sont assurées par l'équipe de soins palliatifs du CLSC René-Cassin.

Home Settings 

Why volunteers are needed?

Some seniors face isolation issues due to declining health.

How volunteers help?

Volunteers provide social support through visits to seniors in their home weekly and/or provide wellness calls. Social support can be defined as companionship, stimulating conversation and recollection of past and current life experiences.

Activities at home can include:

-recreational activities, board games, baking, other activities of mutual interest

-accompaniment for short walks to get fresh air and exercise.

Locations include the boroughs of N.D.G., Côte St Luc, Snowden, Hampstead and Montreal West.

Pourquoi a-t-on besoin de bénévoles ? 

Certaines personnes âgées font face à des problèmes d'isolement en raison de leur santé déclinante 

Comment les bénévoles aident-ils ? 

Les bénévoles offrent un soutien social en visitant les aînés à domicile chaque semaine et/ou en leur faisant passer des appels de bien-être. Le soutien social peut être défini comme la compagnie, la conversation stimulante et le souvenir des expériences de vie passées et actuelles. 

Les activités à la maison peuvent inclure : 

-activités récréatives, jeux de société, pâtisserie, autres activités d'intérêt mutuel 

-accompagnement pour de courtes promenades pour prendre l'air et faire de l'exercice 

Les emplacements comprennent les arrondissements de N.D.G., Côte St Luc, Snowden, Hampstead et Montréal-Ouest. 

 

Group Volunteering (Choirs/Musical groups / Schools / Corporations / Religious groups)

Groups such as choirs/musical groups, schools, corporations, religious affiliations, or other can request to volunteer by scheduling one or more dates at one of our establishments. The volunteer coordinator will review the proposed activities with the group and accept them or not based on priority and/or fit with the clientele and establishment.

Le Glenmount / The Glenmount Residence RI

3530 Jean-Talon Blvd. West, Montreal, Quebec, H3R 2G3, corner of Côte-des-Neiges. 

The aim of the Le Glenmount is to offer care and services adapted to the needs of the elderly or vulnerable adults who have received acute care in a hospital environment and whose medical condition has stabilized, but for whom the return home is uncertain or compromised due to decreased functional abilities and security issues. 


L'objectif du Glenmount est d'offrir des soins et des services adaptés aux besoins des personnes âgées ou vulnérables qui ont reçu des soins aigus en milieu hospitalier et dont la condition médicale s'est stabilisée, mais pour qui le retour à domicile est incertain ou compromis en raison de capacités fonctionnelles diminuées et de problèmes de sécurité.

Hôpital Mont-Sinai / Mount Sinai Hospital

Join Us in Shaping a Legacy of Compassionate and Interdisciplinary Care

Mount Sinai Hospital Montreal is supported by many dedicated volunteers who generously donate their time and assistance to numerous programs, activities and departments.

Recognized by its excellence since 1909 and affiliated with McGill University, the hospital is renowned for its expertise in short-term respiratory care, palliative, post-acute, and long-term care.

The hospital also counts with art therapy, music therapy, rehabilitation and different recreational activities, which allow volunteers to have a large, varied and interdisciplinary set of experiences supporting our hospital.

Volunteers receive an orientation and are trained and guided to create a rewarding experience for both themselves and the patients/residents. Volunteers are carefully selected based on their talents and trustworthiness.

Following an initial interview, a police verification and reference check are performed. Volunteers are then assigned to areas of the Hospital where their skills, talents and strengths will be most effectively used, on a regular and part-time basis. The volunteer program at Mount Sinai Hospital provides an opportunity to lend a helping hand in a number of hospital duties, within a diverse set of departments.

L'Hôpital Mount Sinai de Montréal bénéficie du soutien de nombreux bénévoles dévoués qui consacrent généreusement leur temps et leur aide à divers programmes, activités et départements.

Reconnu pour son excellence depuis 1909 et affilié à l'Université McGill, l'hôpital est réputé pour son expertise en soins respiratoires de courte durée, soins palliatifs, soins post-aigus et soins de longue durée.

L'hôpital propose également de la thérapie par l'art, de la musicothérapie, de la réadaptation et diverses activités récréatives, permettant aux bénévoles de vivre une expérience large, variée et interdisciplinaire en soutenant notre établissement.

Les bénévoles reçoivent une orientation et sont formés et guidés pour créer une expérience enrichissante tant pour eux-mêmes que pour les patients/résidents. Les bénévoles sont soigneusement sélectionnés en fonction de leurs talents et de leur fiabilité.

Suite à un entretien initial, une vérification policière et une vérification de références sont effectuées. Les bénévoles sont ensuite affectés aux départements de l'hôpital où leurs compétences, talents et forces seront les plus efficacement utilisés, de manière régulière et à temps partiel. Le programme de bénévolat de l'Hôpital Mount Sinai offre l'opportunité de prêter main-forte dans plusieurs fonctions hospitalières, au sein de différents départements.

Long-Term Care Residential Centres / Centres d'hébergements

Father Dowd Centre

Founded by the Catholic Church with support from Montreal’s English-speaking community, the core mission of the Father Dowd Residential Centre is to care for aging members of the community who are no longer able to live independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to Father Dowd by their families.

The focus of the Centre is to provide care in a welcoming and homelike environment tailored to each resident’s individual needs. Our fundamental commitment to the well-being and safety of our residents—shared by all staff and volunteers, as well as by each resident’s family—underlies all of our policies and practices, as well as the design of our physical environment. We consider family members partners in care so that, even when they live at a distance, they feel welcome and involved in the care their loved one is receiving.

Father Dowd receives its mandate and operating budget from the Quebec government in addition to generous support by its Auxiliary for special programs and other needs.

Henri-Bradet Centre

 

The core mission of the Henri-Bradet Residential Centre is to care for aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to us by their families.

Our focus is on providing care in a welcoming, secure and homelike environment tailored to individual needs. Our fundamental commitment to well-being and safety—shared by all staff and volunteers, as well as by each resident’s family—underlies all our policies and practices, as well as the design of our physical environment. We engage families as partners in care so that, even when they live at a distance, they feel welcome and included in life at the Centre.

The Henri-Bradet Residential Centre receives its mandate and operating budget from the government.

St Andrew Centre

Founded with the support of the Montreal Presbyterian community, the primary goal of the Saint Andrew Residential Centre is to care for aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to us by their families.

Our focus is on providing care in a welcoming, secure and homelike environment tailored to individual needs. Our fundamental commitment to well-being and safety— shared by all staff and volunteers, as well as by each resident’s family—underlies all our policies and practices, as well as the design of our physical environment. We engage families as partners in care so that, even when they live at a distance, they feel welcome and included in life at the Centre.

The Saint Andrew Residential Centre receives its mandate and operating budget from the Quebec government and is generously supported by its Foundation for special programs and other needs.

St Margaret Centre

Founded by the Anglican Church and support from Montreal’s English-speaking community, the core mission of the Saint Margaret Residential Centre is to care for aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to us by their families.

Our focus is on providing care in a welcoming, secure and homelike environment tailored to individual needs. Our fundamental commitment to wellbeing and safety—shared by all staff and volunteers, as well as by each resident’s family—underlies all our policies and practices, as well as the design of our physical environment. We engage families as partners in care so that, even when they live at a distance, they feel welcome and included in life at the Centre.

The Saint Margaret Residential Centre receives its mandate and operating budget from the government. Funding for special projects comes from the Drummond Foundation, which has been supporting Saint Margaret since the days of the nuns.

St. Margaret Day Center

St. Margaret Day Centre provides organized morning and afternoon activities for seniors with physical and/or cognitive deficits, while still living at home in the community.  The main goal of the day centre is to enable isolated seniors to receive recreation stimulation while supporting their caregivers with a respite break. Volunteers assist Day Center staff with a wide range of tasks including recreational and well-being activities for the participants as well as mealtime lunch service..

À propos de nous / About Us

Mission et objectifs

À l’Hôpital Richardson et Catherine Booth, la réadaptation consiste à prendre soin des gens, et pas seulement à leur fournir des traitements. L’équipe multidisciplinaire accompagne les patients à chaque étape de leur réadaptation. Travailler en collaboration avec le patient et la participation des membres de sa famille, en prenant soin de ses besoins médicaux, fonctionnels, psychologiques et sociaux.

Engagement des bénévoles

Les bénévoles jouent un rôle essentiel dans l’accompagnement des personnes qui se rétablissent d’un AVC ou d’une chirurgie orthopédique tout en apprenant à retrouver leur mobilité et leur autonomie avec l’aide de l’équipe multidisciplinaire professionnelle.

Activités programmées

lundi au vendredi entre 9h et 16h, quarts de travail de 2 à 3 heures par semaine

Les quarts de travail des bénévoles sont principalement des jours de semaine en réadaptation, tandis que d’autres activités comme les loisirs et les visites peuvent être effectuées le soir et les fins de semaine. 


Mission and Goals 

At the Richardson and Catherine Booth Hospital, rehabilitation is about CARING for people, not only providing treatment. The multi-disciplinary team helps patients in every step of their rehabilitation. Working collaboratively with the patient and the involvement of their family members, caring for their medical, functional, psychological and social needs.  

Volunteer Engagement 

Volunteers play an integral role in supporting persons recovering from a stroke or orthopedic surgery while learning to regain their mobility and independence with the help of the professional multidisciplinary team.

Commitment

3 months or more is the minimum required

Scheduled Activities

Weekdays Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm for most activities (2 to 3 hours weekly)

Evenings and weekends are possible for visits, special events, musical programs and meal assistance
