What Skills and Characteristics Do I Need?
🐶 Passion for Animal Welfare: A genuine love for animals and a commitment to promoting their well‑being
🗣️ Effective Communication: Good public speaking skills and the ability to connect with diverse audiences, particularly children and young people
🗓️ Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to varying schedules and locations, with shifts primarily on weekdays during school hours. Although we don't always have shifts every week, this role suits someone who wants to stay involved in the work we do but can't commit to a regular weekly shift
💻 Access to Resources: Basic computer skills and access to necessary transportation for travel to different locations
📋 Commitment to Policies: Adherence to RSPCA policies and procedures, including obtaining and maintaining a valid Blue Card.
When Can I Volunteer?
Shifts are typically scheduled between Monday and Friday, fitting around school hours and booking requests – you tell us when you can help, and we will find classes in those windows!
Where Can I Volunteer?
🌏 Statewide Connection: While we currently only deliver education programs in the Brisbane region, we’re hoping to reach out to schools and early learning centres across Queensland to encourage passionate individuals from any community to volunteer
📍 Priority Locations: We are particularly seeking volunteers in Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba, Mackay, Gympie, Noosa, Bundaberg, Cairns and Townsville who can deliver our programs independently. Our Youth 4 Paws program is delivered on campus at Wacol.
What Training and Support Do We Offer?
📚 Comprehensive Training: We provide full training for every presentation, ensuring you feel confident, supported, and well‑prepared for your role. All lessons follow a structured lesson plan aligned with the national curriculum
🌱 Support & Development: Our supportive team works with your individual strengths and preferences, offering opportunities for growth and development within the organisation

School Holiday Program - Adult Volunteer
Join the Crew that Brings People Together!
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Education Assistant to join our team and support the running of our school holiday programs at RSPCA Queensland! These programs give young people aged 10–17 an exciting, hands-on experience through activities such as Canine Carers, RSPCA for a Day, Wildlife Crusaders, and Vet Nurse for a Day.

What to expect
As an Education Assistant, you’ll assist our Education Officers to deliver the school holiday program, engage with students, support activities, and help ensure the day runs smoothly. This role also includes taking responsibility for children during the program, confidently handling animals with care, and encouraging animal wellbeing to all students and people onsite.
