Positive Ageing Advisory Committee

Our Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (PAAC) is made up of community members who represent older adults in the community. The PAAC advocate for and provide advice to Council on matters related to positive ageing and support the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives to promote positive ageing within Greater Bendigo. Community representatives have been appointed by Council following an expression of interest and interview process.

Positive Ageing is all about maintaining a positive attitude, feeling good about yourself, keeping fit and healthy, and engaging fully in life. Ageing is often associated with many rewarding experiences, however it is also a time when significant changes occur.

Keeping a positive attitude toward ageing is important as it allows you to continue to feel good and have a sense of control as you face another part of the life cycle. Social interaction and relationships with others are associated with positive ageing. Maintaining social networks through clubs, engaging in voluntary work and keeping in touch with family and friends, prevents isolation and promotes good mental and physical health. Those who age positively, live longer and healthier lives and enjoy a better quality of life.
