The Tourism and Major Events team is responsible for the coordination of activities relating to the attraction and support of major events to Bendigo. 

With international and national events hosted throughout the year in our diverse parks, heritage and contemporary buildings and open spaces, Bendigo has earned its reputation as a world class events capital of regional Victoria. 

Our beautiful tree-lined streets and impressive buildings create a picturesque backdrop to any event, while our convenient location in the heart of Victoria is accessible for many surrounding towns, all within an easy 90 minute drive from Melbourne’s CBD.

Bendigo Venues & Events

Capital Theatre Ulumbarra

Welcome to Bendigo Venues & Events - a business unit of the City of Greater Bendigo and responsible for the management of a suite of venues including Ulumbarra Theatre, The Capital Theatre, the Bendigo Town Hall, Dudley House and The Engine Room.

This Unit presents a broad range of community, state, national and international events including live theatre, dance, fine and contemporary music and other performing arts activities across a varied suite of venues.

BV&E’s venues have an equally busy commercial life through the hosting of weddings, conferences, seminars, celebrations, ceremonies, classes and community events and by offering professional theatres, fully supported ticketing and box office, first-class function facilities, exclusive catering, exhibition spaces and dedicated community access venues.

Student Work Placement Program

 

 
 
The City of Greater Bendigo is proud of it's Student Work Placement Program. The program offers work experience placements for year 10 to 12 secondary students, Unpaid University Placements for students seeking to practically complement their qualification. Programs are subject to the City's business units current ability to resource, supervise and conduct them.
 
 
What you need to know before you begin the application process.
  1. The City is unable to guarantee a placement.
  2. Student Work Placements are sought after and limited.
  3. When answering the application questions use examples where possible in your response.
  4. Use your response to every question as an opportunity to standout from everyone else.
  5. If you have a resume, this will help us learn more about you and your skills.
  6. You may also have to meet with us in person to discuss your application further.
  7. Refer to this checklist before you start the application form as you may need to obtain further information.

  9. Preference will be given to students living and studying at schools in the City of Greater Bendigo.
  10. The Student Handbook and quiz forms part of your induction.
  11. The processing of your application can take a minimum of two weeks 
  12. All students need to be attending an educational institution or an approved home schooled program that is secondary school equivalent.
  13. (Work Experience only students are paid at $5.00 a day for the five days via Electronic Funds Transfer, so you will need to provide us with your account details including your Bank's BSB number.)
