Bendigo Easter Festival

Bendigo Easter Festival The Bendigo Easter Festival is one of Australia's longest-running and most loved community events, attracting thousands of visitors each year over the Easter long weekend. During the festival, Bendigo's beautiful Rosalind Park and surrounding streets come alive with a vibrant program of family-friendly entertainment, activities, and attractions. Visitors can enjoy the Vision Australia Easter Egg Hunt, Carnival Central, the Rotary Market, live music, roving entertainment, hands-on children's activities, and much more. Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and memorable experience for festival attendees. There are a variety of volunteer roles available throughout the festival, including:
Whether you volunteer for a single four-hour shift or across the entire Easter weekend, you'll have the opportunity to meet new people, gain valuable experience, contribute to the community, and be part of one of Bendigo's most iconic events. Volunteer positions for the 2027 Bendigo Easter Festival will open in January 2027! |

Welcome to Bendigo Venues & Events - a business unit of the City of Greater Bendigo and responsible for the management of a suite of venues including Ulumbarra Theatre, The Capital Theatre, the Bendigo Town Hall, Dudley House and The Engine Room.
This Unit presents a broad range of community, state, national and international events including live theatre, dance, fine and contemporary music and other performing arts activities across a varied suite of venues.
BV&E’s venues have an equally busy commercial life through the hosting of weddings, conferences, seminars, celebrations, ceremonies, classes and community events and by offering professional theatres, fully supported ticketing and box office, first-class function facilities, exclusive catering, exhibition spaces and dedicated community access venues.
Volunteer Opportunities
Student Work Placement Program
The City of Greater Bendigo is proud of it's Student Work Placement Program. The program offers work experience placements for year 10 to 12 secondary students, Unpaid University Placements for students seeking to practically complement their qualification. Programs are subject to the City's business unit’s ability to resource, supervise and conduct them.
Please note: We are unable take Student Work Placements in the following areas in 2026.
BARC, Early Childhood Learning Centre's, Information and Technology, Bendigo Art Gallery and Maternal & Child Health Nurses

What you need to know before you begin the application process.
- The City is unable to guarantee a placement.
- Student Work Placements are sought after and limited.
- When answering the application questions use examples where possible in your response.
- Use your response to every question as an opportunity to standout from everyone else.
- If you have a resume, this will help us learn more about you and your skills.
- You may also have to meet with us in person to discuss your application further.
- Refer to this checklist before you start the application form as you may need to obtain further information.

- The Student Handbook and quiz forms part of your induction.
- The processing of your application can take a minimum of two weeks
- All students need to be attending an educational institution or an approved home schooled program that is secondary school equivalent.
- Work Experience only students are paid at $5.00 a day for the five days via Electronic Funds Transfer, so you will need to provide us with your account details including your Bank's BSB number.

Parks and Open Space
The Parks and Open Space Unit manages the parks, gardens, creek corridors, bushland and sporting reserves as well as streets, plazas and road reserves. Work Experience tasks could include, weeding, mulching, blowing down paths and observing and shadowing qualified professionals.
