Resource Recovery & Education Program
The City of Greater Bendigo is actively working to divert municipal waste sent to landfill. We are doing this by regularly monitoring domestic waste and continuously educating the community on correct sorting of waste into the three-bin system to minimise contamination in kerbside general, recycle, and organics bins.
RREV aims to educate and make the residents aware of municipal waste management, resource recovery and litter reduction. It will offer volunteers with the opportunities to learn about correct sorting of waste into the three-bin system. It will also promote sustainable habits to minimise household waste and engage like-minded residents with shared vision to protect the environment from waste related issues.
If you have a passion for the environment and waste management, we have an activity based on your interest. We would encourage you to look at each position description and fill out the application form to become a part of something valuable.
Please note that your one application could support more than one role.
Resource Recovery & Education Program - Activities
Waste Monitor
This role will provide the opportunity to monitor the public recycling bins during major city events. Volunteers will also provide advice to event guests on waste disposal in the three-bin system. They will check bins for obvious contamination and rectify them where practicable.
Bin Inspector
Volunteers will support the Resource Recovery and Education (RR&E) Officer to conduct simple visual assessment of the contents of kerbside bins. If any contamination in kerbside bin is found during the audits, they will tag the bin to provide direct feedback on the content of waste, recycling and organics bin.
